If you’ve been craving a bowl of beef noodle soup, look no further than this casual eatery on Hongmei Lu. Located across from the Hongmei Lu Pedestrian Street, Canoodle serves up authentic Taiwanese cuisine in a clean Western-style restaurant with hole-in-the-wall prices minus the dirty silverware and cramped spaces.

Create your own bowl of noodle soup with thick daoshao mian, medium-thickness zhong mian, thin xi mian or fen si (vermicelli) with beef, tendon or a combination of both on top. We recommend the handmade zhong mian, which we love for their deliciously chewy texture. Soups are available in four options ranging from RMB30-36; the house special beef and tendon soup is a winner with an ample serving of bok choy and tender chunks of beef in an enticingly fragrant broth. Each soup comes with a side of vegetables, chili sauce and even a bit of beef fat so you can customize the flavor of your broth. The menu is filled out with a few rice dishes and dry noodle options; we'd also suggest the spicy beef sauce over noodles that will have your mouth tingling (RMB28).
