Hidden Thai Treasure
Since Thai House has now opened a second location, we thought we'd revisit the original to see if it's maintained its reputation for tasty authentic Thai food at reasonable prices. Tucked away down an alleyway on the second floor of an apartment complex, we found the place jammed packed with eager diners savoring the multitude of traditional Thai choices. Pad Thai (¥38), a popular selection, is one of the best we've had in Shanghai with noodles cooked to perfection accompanied by all the usual condiments, both light and satisfying. Another favorite, the Green Curry (¥42) with steamed rice (¥8), was spicy hot, providing the zingy aftertaste of a true Thai curry. Conclusion: No frills Thai House still serves up some of the best Thai food in town. Stuffed and satisfied, we left knowing we'd return.

I must say that Thai House definitely serves the best authentic Thai food in the city, way much better than the Simply's....For those who hope to get a taste of Thai cuisine,

I strongly suggest a Third Bite review (anonymous and without your photographer). I was there shortly after the review above and completely disagree.

My friends have been regulars and they unanimously agreed the food quality has noticably fallen. Plus prices went up and portions got smaller.

It's not authentic Thai food, and somewhat of a bad sign when the cook is out in the front smoking a cigarette with the 'host'. Won't ever return.

Really? Hmm..I think it was because the their thai chef was on duty when I went there that night. I was quite impressed by the taste. I think we should give them a call to confirm if Thai chef is available on that day before we go. F&B always couldn't keep their quality constant when they don't have enough chef.
