Being a florist, what do you think about Valentine's Day?
I love it because I love seeing couples holding the flowers I design. I don't have much time for myself though—it's one of my busiest days. If I had a day off, I would have dinner with my boyfriend.
Does your boyfriend send you flowers?
He did twice at the very beginning, but after he found out that I'm a floral designer, he stopped sending them and now he treats me to dinner. He also sent me a huge box of chocolates last year.
Chocolates are good, especially since you spend so much time around flowers. Do you ever get sick of them?
Yes, I do. When I first started working here, I always kept fresh flowers at home but after years of touching these flowers every day, the freshness and perfection wears off. When you know you have to satisfy clients with limited time, it stresses you out more than letting you appreciate the flowers you're working with.
So being an expert, what kind of flowers would you recommend for Valentine's Day?
Roses are, of course, perfect. If you want something different, you can give anything except chrysanthemums as long as they're designed well. I recommend Bolero Deep Blues (Yangjugeng) which are just beautiful.
If we decide to go with roses, how do we make them more interesting?
The attractiveness of all bouquets is about 60 percent design, you just need to consult a good designer. If you're doing it yourself, go for the classic bouquet and just make sure you choose high quality, clean, fresh roses.
