Zhejiang | Moganshan
Last time Bohdi ventured to Moganshan for this bike, hike and swim overnighter, David Hasselhoff was the theme. For their Aug. 23-24 overnighter, naturally, the theme is William Shatner. What Captain Kirk has to do with leisurely hikes through bamboo forests and challenging mountain biking on single track dirt paths is not entirely clear. But whatever, with Bohdi you know you're in for a fantastic weekend of fresh air, exercises and surprises.

This overnighter accommodates both hikers and bikers. If you opt for the hiking, expect off-the-beaten path trekking through a bamboo forest ending at your hotel halfway up the mountain. Along the way, you'll pass an old nunnery, ruins from the 1920s and rustic villages. The biking is geared toward intermediate riders. Ascend uphill gradually as you make your way toward Anji in the middle of Zhejiang's great bamboo ocean.

That night, Bohdi throws a barbecue feast, complete with lamb (brought from Shanghai), on the porch of the three-star hotel. Enjoy a beautiful sunset and fantastic breezes. Wash it down with cold local beers. You'll need them to get up for the Shatner-a-thon promised as entertainment that night (here's a hint: the hotel has a KTV room). The hotel is one of the nicest on the mountain, not as touristy as others, featuring basic but comfortable rooms.

The next day everyone goes out for a final hike or bike, ending up at a reservoir for a swim. With the recent rains which have come through, it's one of the cleanest swimming holes in the area. Then it's back to the hotel for a shower and a meal before piling back into Starship Bohdi-prise and heading back to Shanghai at warp speed.
