In the western part of Shanghai, in the Chang Ning district, a new 28-floor complex is being developed. Slated to be complete in May 2012, this new luxury mall will house brands currently under the LVMH conglomerate. The retail space is called L’Avenue and lies between Xianxia Road and Ziyun Road. The building will have a gross floor area of 140,000 square meters.

Designed by Leigh & Orange Ltd., the property is developed by Shanghai Luxchina Property Development Company Limited, a joint venture between L Real Estate and STDM worth around USD 500 million. L Real Estate is owned by Bernard Arnault, chairman and CEO of LVMH and the fourth richest person in the world. STDM is owned by Stanley Ho, a Hong Kong billionaire whose many business interests includes real estate.

With over 30 luxury brands under its belt, including Tag Heuer, Louis Vuitton, Celine, Givenchy, Fendi, Christian Dior, LVMH will have no problems making L’Avenue a prime destination spot for luxury shopping and is sure to draw in much anticipated fanfare.
