I used Ctrip for one year twice a week in 2012. I was their so called 'VIP customer'. Whatever shit that means. When a problem showed up in december 2012, once after more than 100 booked flights, they did not solve it by phone, so I went to their office at Beijing lu, scolded at everyone I saw in a very loud rude/vulgar way, the Chinese way I guess, and got compensated within 10 minutes. Courtesy does not bring you anywhere in this country....

While we're on the subject, the last time I used Ctrip, I purchased a ticket to Shanghai on short notice, last flight that evening, from the Ctrip desk at Guangzhou airport. After billing me, they said they could not provide me with proper invoice or equivalent, nor could they refund my purchase without a manager's approval. There was no manager on scene, needless to say. So I had to fly back with no invoice and this seriously complicated my expense claim effort. Later, I appealed to Ctrip central that they compensate me in points for the fiasco and they said refused.

I no longer use Ctrip -they are almost always more expensive than everyone else, and yes, they could not care less about customer service.

I hear you krobert. I have had similar problems with ctrip in the past. They are just so big, and they really don't care to resolve any problems or to really give good customer service.

The worst customer service EVER! I wanted to change a ticket and called Ctrip who replied via email that they were forbidden from making these changes and they instructed me to call the airlines directly. The airlines told me that because there were no ticket offices in that city, I was entitled to a full refund so to contact my travel agent, cancel my booking and make another. After doing exactly as told, Ctrip denies telling me to contact the airline and also denies that the airlines has that policy (I was told this twice by one airline agent and when I asked another, I was told the same). This discussion ended up involving them calling and emailing me over and over again to tell me that I did the wrong thing and that i had to pay change fees on the cancellation because I did not follow instructions. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, my request was ignored and when I demand, I was simply put on hold for a long long time (I finally hung up). If there is no problem Ctrip works, but if there is a problem don't expect them to help. I have not received any refund as of today and don't honestly know if I ever will or how much it will be. I even went so far as to have a letter to them explaining the situation translated and still no reply and no refund! A full month has passed and I am considering hiring an attorney on principal!
