Description -
Twenty years of silence between father and daughter is broken when the feisty daughter, Ali, a single mother, and her seven-year-old blind son, Jonah, are forced to move in with the estranged father after Ali’s latest break-up. Set in the forgotten suburbs of modern Singapore, Ali’s attempt to escape repeated bad relationships ironically puts her before the man she resents most – Tan, her father. The uneasy setting yields unexpected benefits for Jonah, but also re-opens wounds from 20 years past. When Tan reveals the dark secret of why he left the family, Ali’s view on life is changed forever.
What results is CAGES, a powerful and poetic family story about the intricacies of life. Set against the backdrop of Singaporean songbirds, this journey of a woman, her blind son and her father, captures the unique and eloquent portrait of family, tradition, and the universal language of love and hope. The film is in English with Chinese subtitles. Begins on 10.28 at 8:30pm, on 10.30 at 6:30pm.
