The best spot to cycle in Shanghai with my family will sure be the Centry Park. Because it is not so crowded there compared with the Bund. There is long long cement way there where you can enjoy the cycling at the same time enjoying the beautiful scenery at the both side of the way. Blue sky, limpid lake and happy children and parents, what a beautiful picture!

even if traffic was not an issue, i still would like to bring my family to the suburban area, i don't think the severe air pollution will do any good to my young children. i think cycing along the narrow lane among the rice field or corn field would be a great pleasure. I can teach them to tell the different names of many grains and agriculture plants. we can bring some food, maybe a pan or a pot, to make some decilious staff for our little picnic. this is really nice given the sweet breeze, warm sunshine and beautiful flowers.

The French Concession is the best place to bike around with your family... quiet lanes, shady trees, and quaint little corner shops. Try this relatively new alley called Ferguson Lane (378 Wukang Lu) it has great stores (i.e. Shui Spa on the 5th floor, a home furnishing store, and a kid-friendly restaurant called Coffee Tree). When your done, you can even stroll to the family photography studio next door (in 261 Hunan Lu Room 2), called barefootportraits (www.barefootportraits.org).

For me the best place in SH to ride a bike is a car free downhill ride along the winding Puxi side of the Nanpu river bridge !

Luziazui... (hope I spell it correctly). I wish there will be one free car day... so they close the luziazui area..... around the Pearl-Jingmao Tower.... so we can cycle there.... around all the tall buildings..... and along the riverside..... O ... and also.... no construction day.... so we can breath fresh air while cycling.

For younger kids (say 2 - 5 years old), Century Park is the best place as the area is big and safe. However, the Park seems only allow small children's bike to enter, not adult's bike.
Otherwise, somewhere around Xing Guo Lu, Wu Kang Lu, Hu Nan Lu are good 'biking trail' as it's relatively quiet, plus, there are lots of tress and old buildings to look around. So it's good for older kids to ride their bike.

If traffic was a non-issue, Nanpu Bridge would be the best spot to cycle in Shanghai with my family because it would be fun to make circles down the bridge after passing magnificient view of Shanghai from Pudong to Puxi side.

If traffic was a non-issue then the best spot to ride would still have to be the edge of the river – either side. If the authorities would only open up a five mile promenade with bicycle lanes they would see them full of families riding every weekend. A promenade would also open the Expo site, and give a good impression for visitors.

The Xintiandi area will be good providing that there are less traffic and less people. The environment is very nicely 'redone' but you can also feel history of Shanghai.

The best place would be downtown Shanghai on Nanjing Road at peak time during Christmas. I would be able to wear my Santa Clause suit, then roll down the road doing wheelies bringing laughter and smiles to everyone for the holiday season.
Merry Christmas HO HO HO!

The best place to bike would be the Shanghai Zoo on the Hongqiao Road. Biking in free expanse with other kids, picnickers, gazing on the animals and falling down on the grass would be fun! No need to look back....

For me the best place would be among the small shikumen lanes of the city. . . you know, where the real life of the local people is at . . . allowing my children to see the realities of life. . . where the children play together as if they are family (with the simplest of toys) . . .where the parents enjoy quality time playing cards or mahjong (not computers). . .where you can smell and see the preparation of dinner being made. . .you know "The Simple Life". Mostly to show my children that "the best things in life are aren't things. . . .they're relationships". Who cannot sense this as you pass those warm, smiling faces in these simple lanes. . . .

My vote would be for a ride starting at the South end of ShanXi Nan Lu. Enjoy the quiet and untouched streets and buildings of Old Shanghai, shaded with trees planted over a hundred years ago.
Take a jaunt off to my favorite street, ShaoXing Lu, for coffee and treats at Vienna Cafe.
Back on ShanXi Nan Lu, stop at the flower market for a few blossoms, before heading east on Fuxing Lu.
Straight ahead is Fuxing Park, for a rest among the benches and grass.
We've done this ride with our two kids on the back of our bikes - and would be made PERFECT with no traffic!

We would start after a coffee & hot chocolate at Boona Cafe on Fuxing Lu, then go west on Fuxing and down Hunan Lu's tree lined streets, past the library on Gao An lu and left onto Hengshan. Then right again on Fuxing all the way to Fuxing Park - stop for play and lunch at Fuxing Park (DaMarco's & ice cream on the walking street there). Keep along Fuxing Lu to the old city and out to the Bund, ride north on the Bund and then take the Ferry (is it still in operation) across to Pudong. Hang out along the Pudong side of the Bund for dinner - my son would probably prefer the "yangrou chuan" and skewered squid from the street side vendors. Best of old and new Shanghai!! Daisy's ride would be good too if kids are smaller.

The best place for biking? Eh... oh yes, it should be around Shanghai South Railway Station, on SHI LONG Rd., not so many vehicles, and very safe for kids to ride. Other places like Shanghai indoor stadium, and HU BING Rd.,(very close to XinTianDi) are also suitable for kids riding. So, Will I be one of the favourits who can get the free bike?

I'm a Beijinger. But I think this contest is not only for native Shanghai,so I'm here to have a try. To cycle in Shanghai with my family, the best place is around the Huangpu River on the Bund.We could feel the breeze from the river which couldn't be felt in inland regions. And in the evening,we can see dazzling Jinmao Tower & The Oriantal Pearl's Tower.I know many native Shanghai will look down upon my suggestion for they don't think these places of interest are special. But in the eyes of people from other places they ARE the representatives of SH.

The best ride in town would be through the Tourist Tunnel under the Huangpu from the Bund to Pudong - how cool would that be! It's one thing to have no street traffic, but to have been able to ride a bike under a river would be the most exciting, especially with all the crazy lights and visuals. What kid wouldn't love that!

along the huangpu riverside starting from the great curve at the end of yan an lu, reaching Bund

Hi, my name is Clare, Daddy let me borrow his computer, I am only little, but I can already say it’s great to be connected to the world……I see Grandma in the magic window every weekend……it’s cool
For me the best place to ride a bike is in the corridors of my mum’s house. The weather is always nice and it never rains. I can stamp around and its no problem as long as the sun is up – when it gets dark, they make me go to bed and this limits the fun I can have!!.
I would love to have one of these bikes as it would also help me to keep mummy and daddy fit (one way or the other)
Also, Daddy wants me to tell you he needs you too make one to his size so we can drive mummy nuts when both of us ride them in tandem around the apartment!!
Lots of love and seasons greetings – hope Santa is good to you, Clare

No traffic means I can safely go anywhere I want to go. At People’s Park I could push my bike to break neck speeds, enjoy the wind in my face, sun on my back and being the envy of kids who don’t have a Mbiky as I fly by.
