Willow Neilson will be presenting a series of free workshops focusing on the development of technique specific to wind instrument players and its development related to jazz improvisation. Open to all wind instrumentalists with 2 years experience.
Sundays:12 to 1.30pm on January 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th
Session 1 Looks at warm-ups that strengthen jazz playing, such as articulation and finger exercises and the shaping of tone and sound.
Session 2 Looks at scale patterns and exercises that increase technique as well as the range of melodic textures available for improvisation.
Session 3 Focuses on the blues and building solos from arpeggios and dominant seventh chords demonstrating voice leading with guide tones and riff patterns.
Session 4 Revises all the material in the first three sessions and applying them to an easy jazz standard.
