Description

A group exhibition from some of China’s most interesting young artists. Living in cities, far from their home towns, they struggle to find a balance between life and their art. Caught up in the struggle to create new way of being in these often alien environments their focus is on survival. A particular blend of sensitivity and neurosis is generated that forms the backdrop to works that focus on the deeply personal and everyday.

Artists: Shao Kun, Gu Fan, Perk, Hu Zi, Ying Yefu, Rou Rou, Ji Ji, Lu Jiawei, Jiang Feimo, Su Weihong.

City Weekend
says

A handful of promising artists from the Chinese countryside impart their feelings of alienation stemming from their new life in the big city. The resulting pieces of art are bursting with fragility and perhaps even shades of paranoia. The gap between their past and present lives is difficult to bridge, as many others can attest to.
