Looking at Contemporary Art
Eastlink Gallery is pleased to announce a new educational program "Looking at Contemporary Art" with visiting Art Educator Sheila Greenspan.
This course is NOT a lecture course or a guided museum tour--rather it is a facilitated visit to galleries and contemporary museums which allows participants to develop their own skills in looking at art.
Sheila has developed a unique art appreciation methodology that is designed to help viewers actively engage with contemporary art through a series of practical and simple visual and curating exercises that encourages responses and discussion among the group. The methodology is geared to teaching visual literacy skills and showing participants that they can enjoy and analyze art without a tour guide, even if they are not trained in art history.
Five weekly sessions will be offered starting Tuesday March 18 and we will visit current exhibitions in galleries and contemporary museums in Shanghai. For example, 50 Moganshan, MOCA, Zendai, Duolon, Bund Galleries.
The course runs from 11a.m. to 2.30. We all meet for lunch near our designated venue where we discuss our observations and other issues in contemporary art ( The price of lunch is not included) We then visit exhibitions where we share our responses and viewpoints
600 RMB for total of 5 sessions. Maximum number of participants 15.
