On May 16th, 2008, BizArt Art Center will hold Ni Jun’s solo exhibition “The floating Maze”. “Always try to be on the road to the truth. The destination had been out of the map in the pursuit of it. You are facing a mirror without your own image inside. Who and where are you? You have nothing different with a stone, floating in the wind.” This is the outlook of Ni Jun about the living state of common people in the modern society. Ni’s floating installation in the air without any weight, looks like people in dream walking, who try to get close to the door to escape from the mirror. ““…He’d better resign himself to back to the door, slowly, bending the head - furthermore, in the opposite direction – far away in the mirror – a man strolls leisurely, trailing him inside, that moment, he turned his back forever – towards the depths, in the emptiness, it seems this place doesn’t exist.” Ni Jun, born in Shanghai, China in 1969, graduated from Shanghai normal University Art College, lives and works in Shanghai. Ni Jun’s key solo exhibitions are “Now and Then”, 2003; “Black dream”, 2002. Besides, she participated to the Blah Blah Blah, Khoj; 2005 Montpellier Chinese Contemporary Art Biennale, France and so on.

Shanghai native Ni Jun presents this exhibition in which installations are hung from the ceiling, floating in the air. The artist uses mirrors and other mediums to create a seemingly endless space in which the audience can explore the different scenes above them.
