"Five Below". It plays very unique modern jazz with JQ Whitcomb's brilliant trumpet skills.

I would have to say Lawrence Ku septet..sleek and cooly textured jazz :)

Can Asian people make "genuine" jazz music? I don't know, but certainly, Carrie Zhang Le has created uniquely modern jazz with a haunting, old-Shanghai resonance.

All jazz musicians in Shanghai are great!

Chris Botti and his jazz band

It has to be between 5 Below (we love you JQ/guys) and Possicobilities - a tough call so let's call it a tie (with Friction Five a close runner up)

My favorite is the JZ all-star big band. Tearing it up every Saturday, nothing else like it in town!

The Kuzu Band are just mesmorising to watch if you have never seen them before. I am a regular at the JZ Club where they play weekly. The place has a sensational vibe which is enhanced by the fine musical talents of this group. The Kuzu Band and a single malt whiskey are the perfect combination to achieve zen in Shanghai!
