Late April/early May sees Secret Garden touring China – a tour that culminates with a high-profile performance at Shanghai Grand Stage. Internationally renowned Eurovision Song Contest winners Secret Garden will tour China in April and May, holding grand concerts in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Shanghai and Beijing. Norwegian act Secret Garden made history by winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1995 with "Nocturne", an entry that was more an instrumental piece than a song. In the 4o- year history of this prestigious pan-European television extravaganza, an instrumental piece had never previously won. A piece so stylistically removed from the “European pop format” commonly associated with the song contest, which the press stated: "Secret Garden has redefined the Eurovision Song Contest”. In the years following their Eurovision Song Contest Victory, Secret Garden has steadily built up a global audience, making the ensemble one of Norway’s true export successes. Rolf Lovland (composer and keyboards) and Fionnuala Sherry (vocals and violin) gave a two-and-half-hour performance, playing many of their hit songs. The crowd sang along to tracks such as "Moongate" and "Lotus" for which the orchestra added a strong oriental flavor that perfectly supplemented the band's new-age music. Secret Garden also treated fans to "Norturne", the song with which the Norwegian act won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1995. The band went on to play "Thank you" and "Sometimes a prayer will do" from their new album. Lovland said although the album had so far only been released in Norway, it would soon hit music stores worldwide.
