Description -
Paul Lisak, hailed as “The new Titian”, the revolution of the Western Art.
“It is difficult for the viewer to escape the seduction of Paul Lisak’s paintings; it is as if the very existence of this power of attraction denies everything that the artist defends. This power is universal: no one can be so insensitive as to take no pleasure in contemplating the works of Titian, Caravaggio or Rubens... this does not depend on the individual’s visual education, on being more bound to tradition than modernity; not even on taste”
Paul Lisak’s work belies his youth when we first confront his canvasses. Lisak (Bayonne, 1967) trained in different European art schools, and familiar with the different modern art movements, he personally chose to defend the characteristics of classical painting to the death and follow in the footsteps of the great Renaissance and Baroque masters
As a contemporary artist, Paul Lisak’s work is, at first, remarkably accessible. It is atypical of European art in the 21st century. Lisak paints humanity’s great problems. However, despite this undeniably painful theme, his work is not merely a portrayal of violence. With his aesthetic view of the elements that make up our social philosophy, that is to say, politics, religion, globalisation, etc., Lisak transcends his own personal world in a gesture of extreme generosity and places himself in another ethical universe. This is absolutely essential to him and his experience of life because it enables him to strengthen his self-concept in a mature manner.
This exhibition it is a cry to open up to a dialogue that forces us, or should force us, to always take our fellowmen into consideration.

British artist Paul Lisak transcends typical characteristics of classic painting by using Renaissance and Baroque techniques instead. Expressing humanity's current problems (including violence), his works depict aspects of social philosophy, ultimately reminding the public to consider their fellow citizens at all times. Ten percent of all sales during the exhibition will be donated to the Sichuan earthquake victims.
