Description -
In the face of major change, humans often have to uproot themselves from the familiar and move away from their comfort zones. Change creates a sense of threat, loss, and panic. At the same time it forces people to anticipate and seek what the future has in store for them.
Wang Jiazeng based the “Industry Journal” on his own personal experience and the “Factory”, a place both familiar and foreign to him; to narrate his thoughts and feelings.
In his paintings, the human subjects are stuck in a box, unbeknownst to threat in the distant. The box is a relic of the past but has assimilated to become a part of the person. Similarly, the navy blue uniform and cadre hat also symbolize one’s recollections and reveal the identity of the civilian.
This series of visual images forces the viewer into deeper contemplation, about their own reality, life and future.

Wang Jiazeng has created a series of visual images based on one of the most feared aspects of human life: change. Through his own personal life experiences and by using blue-toned colors, Wang portrays emotion that is sure to have viewers questioning what the future holds for them.
