Description -
WHITE FACTORY celebrates the opening of its space in Weihai 696 with the exhibition ‘Indefinite Beauty’, presenting works by photography masters Nobuyoshi Araki, Hans Bellmer and Man Ray, and two internationally acclaimed female photographers from Japan, Yuki Onodera and Ishiuchi Miyako. From Araki’s portrayal of the erotic beauty in young women, Bellmer’s notorious dolls that reference the cruel and convulsive beauty of desire, to Man Ray’s traditional yet glamorous view of female elegance – ‘Indefinite Beauty’ examines the different interpretations of the beautiful and the sublime, aesthetics, and the female body in photography.

Yuki Onodera:
Born in Tokyo, Onodera's photographs capture and magnify objects of daily life to reveal her personal aesthetic intepretation. "[My works include] satellite photos, [photos of] the ripples of a lake’s surface, candy, ruins, the tattoos of an Indian, night-time scenes of a harbor, crowds, cars, insects, the moment a balloon bursts ..." she lists. "Everything from the microscopic to the enormous is collected on the surface of darkness, between the visible and the invisible.” --Issue 18, Explain Your Art
