This 5 day trip takes you far away to China’s Northeastern border with N. Korea and visit Mt. Chang Bai Shan, China’s largest nature reserve. While the pristine volcanic Chang Bai Shan Heavenly Lake is the star attraction within the reserve, the entire reserve with its dense old growth forests, steep canyons, rushing waterfalls, natural hot springs and unique eco system is a haven for outdoor lovers to explore. We will have two days to explore the Northern slope and Western slope of the reserve, and both slopes lead to the Heavenly Lake but on different shores. The Northern slope was the first to be developed and it boasts an underground forest, natural outdoor hot springs and waterfalls. The Western Slope is further away, and more primitive, and it features a Grand Canyon as a great spot for hiking. Since the lake is situated right in the middle between China and N. Korea, it is impossible to circulate the lake in full or conduct recreational activities on the lake, which actually helped the lake to remain undisturbed by too much human activity.

On our last day we’ll visit Fangchuan - A small town by the Japan Sea that shares borders with N. Korea and Russia. The entire region including Yanji is home to most of China’s ethnic Korean people, and you will experience a very different culture there.
