Gay marriage celebration, with gay Chinese opera performance & drag show
Shenzhonglou Restaurant, 51 Yunnan Central Road (at Beihai Road, People's Square area) 蜃中楼大酒店, 黄浦区云南中路51 电话:02163608817
You are invited to the wedding banquet of Xingxing (male, 27) to Xiaolou (male, 50). To celebrate, the newlyweds will enjoy a drag beauty contest, with men modeling sleek qipao dresses, and fancy evening gowns. They will also listen to screeching...sorry, "singing" of Chinese opera by members of the Rainbow League xiqu group (see: www.weour.net/bbs/forumdisplay.php?fid=108 ), as well as dine on the Chinese Lantern Festival's yuanxiao sticky rice dumplings, and guess Lantern Festival riddles (probably with racy, gay themes). The Lantern Festival, which ends the Spring Festival, or Chinese New Year's, is considered China's Valentine's Day.
The bride, Xingxing is the organizer of Rainbow League's photography & filmmaking group (see: www.weour.net/bbs/forumdisplay.php?fid=100 , contact: 159 0091 4403, "找自我" < hankhb@qq.com >). By day he's employed in the advertising profession. Also represented are members of the Rainbow League's Xizhaochun (夕朝群), Shanghai's group for gay love across the generations---i.e. old guys who like young ones, and vice versa.
You are welcome to attend this wedding banquet, held at Shanghai's de facto Gay Central restaurant, Shenzhonglou, where the Rainbow League, Weiwudian, Yufeimen, and other of Shanghai's gay social organizations often hold their dinners.
To be frank, we're not sure whether this marriage is an excuse for a gay Chinese opera and drag show, or the reverse. It's all drama, and should be fun.
cost (includes dinner and show): 50 yuan
