Opening for Korean/Japanese noise-pop duo 10 at Yu Yin Tang, Ben Houge presents, “The Love Songs of Ben Houge,” a quasi-acoustic revue of tunes surveying the past fifteen years of his pop catalogue. The show also doubles as a CD release party for Ben's new rock and roll EP 3 Heart-Shaped Cookies. Tickets are 30 RMB at the door.

Ben has performed extensively in China, participating in shows at the Shanghai eArts Festival, NOIShanghai, the Zendai Museum, Hangzhou’s 2Pi Festival, and Beijing’s D-22. While he typically generates ambient electronic textures on his laptop, employing custom software he has developed in Max/MSP, this concert represents his first unabashed set of original pop music in the four years of his Shanghai residency. For a sneak preview, visit www.neocha.com/benhouge.

Ben Houge moved to Shanghai in 2004 to work for the French videogame company Ubisoft, where he served as audio director on the recently released Tom Clancy’s EndWar (Xbox 360 and PS3). Prior he spent seven years at the Seattle-based Sierra Entertainment, contributing audio to such titles as Leisure Suit Larry 7, King’s Quest: Mask of Eternity, Half-Life: Opposing Force, and Arcanum.

Following Ben’s set, headlining band 10, contrasting the buzzy laptop stylings of Marqido from Japan with the effervescent theatrics of Itta from Korea, return to the Yu Yin Tang stage in support of their new CD Kitsch. Their last stop in Shanghai saw the red-clad, toy-wielding duo opening for Jeans Team at Logo, in addition to a set at Yu Yin Tang, and on previous China tours, they have graced the stages of the 2Pi Festival, the Beijing MIDI Festival, and Mao Livehouse, collaborating with such underground luminaries as Xiao He, Li Tieqiao, and Li Jianhong.

Also, don't miss Ben's performance one week prior at the Brainwave Communication minimal noise show on March 15, also Yu Yin Tang, also 8pm, also 30 RMB!
