Pranayama-The Universal Life Force Prana is not merely a breath regulation exercise, more it is an art of extending the life span by using the vital universal force to teach us to live a healthy, vibrant, happy life free of disease and dullness! “Prana” or universal vital energy, exists in all animate and inanimate things, is the life force which moves the universe, as yoga believes. The horizon of prana can be expanded in our body by constant and systematic practice. Yoga tradition believes in the number of breath as a determining factor in life and death not the number of days we live, there by the duration of life also can be extended by regular and systematic practice of pranayama. Generally we uses a fraction of the capacity of the lungs in normal breathing, pranyama helps us optimum utilization of the vital capacity of our lungs. Rhythmic, deep and slow respiration coordinates the nervous system and stimulates the brain neurons and cells. Pranayama helps in expelling impurities from the individual cells of the body, it tranquilizes the mind, and also useful in gaining psychosomatic equilibrium. More over it is effective in the management of various acute and chronic diseases, regulates hormonal secretion and strengthens the immune system.
