Shanghai’s Art Lab at the MOCA plays host to an event that provides an exploration into the sights and sounds of a city through the creative vision of ten artists. Three musicians, three video artists, three visual artists and one video installation work combine to share a fresh view on this ever-changing city.
Through both visual and audio mediums this event challenges the listener/viewer to see parts of a city that are often overlooked and often forgotten. Taking minimalism as the focal and creative direction from which to extract the visions, the event allows a complicated and diverse city to be shown in a refreshing sense of simplicity.
Utilizing the creative talents of both local Chinese and expatriate artists from around the world to create original work especially for the event, the evening’s aim is to take you through an audio and visual landscape of Shanghai. In a nutshell: a Minimalist homage of Shanghai: stripped and simplified.
Participating artists include musicians MHP, Alex Furk, and Arthur Bligh , Shanghai-based VJs Vader, Hean, and Alejandra Pinggera, and Visual Artists Lucy Brydon, Kathryn Gohmert and Nial O’Connor, with a video installation by Michael Beets.
Performance runs from 9:00 - 11:00 pm on Sat, May 16th, but Art Lab's Bar and lounge will stay open until late.
50RMB ticket price includes one free drink.
*Art Lab is MoCA’s new artistic and innovative initative for Shanghai, providing a social place for artists, designers, creators and the public to enjoy on its third floor.Through art works, lectures, workshops, crossover events (including dance, theatre and film), Art Lab is a contemporary platform for creative encounters, re-interpreting the definition of how performance and visual art is appreciated in a public space.
