For many of us, when we think of wine, we think of France and Italy. Our first tasting this month takes us to France. Even after the 1800s disaster (phylloxera) which crippled France’s wine region, the country was able to bounce back and establish itself as a trend setting, role model for many wine producing countries. History, experience and exceptional terroir have all played a key role in building the French reputation for classic wines. Virtually all classic grape (Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, etc.) varietals available today were sourced from France.
