2009 Haydn Chamber Music Competition
In commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Joseph Haydn’s death, the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, in conjunction with The Shanghai Chamber Music Lovers, is holding the inaugural Chamber Music Festival and 2009 Haydn Chamber Music Competition from 11-16 December 2009.
The competition seeks to recognize and encourage the country’s best chamber musicians, and foster the growth of chamber music in China. This is a China-wide competition, to which string quartet and piano trio groups from all of China’s music conservatories have been invited to participate.
Largest Prize in China Chamber Music A total of RMB 134,500 in prize money will be awarded, making this the largest prize in China chamber music.
Seminars, Master classes and concerts open to all Seminars and open Master classes will be conducted by conservatory professors and international chamber musicians Meta4 and Moscow Rachmaninov Trio, free of charge, and the public may also attend the open concerts that are part of the competition rounds.

Moscow Rachmaninov Trio and Meta4 will perform on concert on December 14 and 15 at 7.30pm in the Shanghai Conservatory; tickets for this event are from RMB50-150.
