The Mack (1973)
Goldie returns from five years at the state pen with good intentions for a fresh start, but quickly fins himself getting into the pimping game. As he climbs the ladder of his ‘profession’, corrupt cops and rival players want to slow him down and bring him back down to the small time.
Starring Max Julian, a young Richard Prior, and real life pimp Frank Ward (playing himself), The Mack is one of, if not the best 70’s blacksploitation films. Tough, gritty and raw, with an undeniable truth in its story and characters, this movie has had a huge influence on cinema aswell as hiphop since its release in 1973. Great acting, slick lines and a killer soundtrack by Willie Hutch, get ready for the the Mack and his pack!!
‘You know the name of the game, your bitch chose me! Now we can handle this like gentlemen or get into some gangster shit!’
