Helmed by new wave director Jean-Luc Godard, this drama is based on the Italian novel Il Disprezzo. The story revolves around producer Jeremy, playwright Paul and Paul’s sexy wife Camille. Paul is head over heels in love with Camille, but the latter blames Paul for having no backbone and openly seduces Jeremy. Share your thoughts with the crowd in the post-screening discussion. Contempt, 1963, Jean-Luc Godard, France, 100 min, in French with Chinese subtitles[HTML_REMOVED] Jeremy Prokosch (Jack Palance) hires Paul Javal (Michel Piccoli), a novelist and playwright, to rework the script of a film adaptation of Homer's Odyssey that should be directed by Frits Lang. Paul loves his wife Camille (Brigitte Bardot) but she blames him for having no backbone. Camille lets Prokosch seduce her, and contempts her husband. The movie will be followed by a discussion led by Mr Liu Wei, producer and announcer for the radio and by Mr Thierry Berthommier, teacher at the Alliance Française de Shanghai.
