For the March installment of Shanghai By Bus, Uprooted Sunshine are proud to present one of the biggest sounds in the UK at the moment – Tom from Scotland’s Mungo’s HiFi!

Mungo’s Hi Fi outta Scotland, UK have been creating tremors on a global scale, in recent years unleashing a myriad of releases, each topping the best seller chart in many countries while simultaneously the crew playing out countless sellout gigs throughout Europe and further afield. Mungo’s Hi Fi are considered one of the leading new wave soundsystems coming out of the UK, drawing on their rich heritage of soundsystem culture, while adding a much needed injection of originality into the UK reggae sound.

Having collaborated with a broad range of artists, including yard artists such as Ranking Joe, Sugar Minott and Sister Nancy through to top UK artists such as Kenny Knots, Earl 16, YT, Warrior Queen and Scotlands’s own Soom T, Mungo’s always have an arsenal or unreleased Scotch Bonnet material and one off dubplates to boot.

Mungo’s Hi Fi were one of the first reggae soundsystems to embrace dubstep and are one of the few acts equally at home on a dubstep or reggae bill. Their second label Scrub A Dub is testament to this.

Mungo’s Hi Fi are also a soundsystem, in the true sense of the word and have a physical PA which cannot be tested for its crystal clear tops, warm mids and heavy bass, which is a pleasure to hear, but not uncomfortable or overdriven. It is the requested soundsystem for many top name dubstep artists when up in Scotland
