“With Heaven's aid I have conquered for you a huge empire. But my life was too short to achieve the conquest of the world. That task is left for you” - Genghis Kahn

My first impressions of Genghis Khan sadly come from Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. Having recently read a biography about this amazing leader, I feel confident saying that Genghis would take lacrosse to new and more violent heights. Duke players already have a lot in common with the ancient Mongol ways ;P

In today's highly globalized world, image is everything. That said, it's important for a war-mongering leader to look good while conquering. That's why if Genghis Khan were alive today, he would participate in the sport of "extreme ironing." Yes, I'm being serious. There is such a sport. Don't believe me? Google it! Extreme ironing is, according to Wikipedia, "an extreme sport and a performance art in which people take an ironing board to a remote location and iron a few items of clothing." Seems like "the latest danger sport that combines the thrills of an extreme outdoor activity with the satisfaction of a well-pressed shirt," is a perfect fit (no pun intended) for a warlord from Mongolia. Oh, and as Wikipedia states, extreme ironing has already been done in a warzone, so what more could Khan want in an extreme sport?!

Hmmm, can he burn naysayers and disbelievers with the iron? Use the board as a "rack"? How about ironing out the wrinkle's in people's flesh? Or is that just too weird and sadistic? Points for creativity, but I still say he's a head chopping lacrosse player!

Gengihs Khan famously rose to power by winning the 1st Ulaanbaator Competitive Eating Competiton back in 1206.

By demolishing 1,249 lambs' ankles between dawn and dusk, washed down with only goblets of ayrag, he edged out his cousin Sukhbaataar, who managed a modest 1,130.The Mongol population subsequently revered him as a demigod, and he maintained a vice-like grip on power for the rest of his life.

This is why Genghis would today be found at hot dog eating contests. An extreme sport in the truest sense. Testing human endurance, guts and mental toughness, and of course creating a superb visual spectacle.

Genghis would certainly excell at an extreme game of Lawn Darts as Inner Mongolia has the world's best lawns (i.e. grasslands). The darts would of course be spears with him on horseback...and the targets being those who fell out of favour with him. Today there would be no lack of targets.

i actually had the chance to ask genghis (or GK to some) over a pie and chips on wednesday. he took the time to invite me to play a game of his favourite extreme sport. X-T-reme Foozball. The handles are made with sharpened donkey teeth for a better grip, the ball is made from a glass eye he ripped out of his enemies skull and the foozball players are actually shrunken real people that he's captured. i beat him 7-5. Close but no cigar GK.

Hmmmm - what I imagine is a kind of race. There are roman style horse-drawn chariots (4-6 horses) with a driver and a marksman - of course wearing brass helmets. The race is across the Mongolian hinterland in pursuit of a convict 'Runningman" style. This of course appeals to Khan's brutish, aggressive and win-at-all-costs, competitive nature and everyone else's let Genghis win-at-all-costs nature. After all, would you be in the chariot in front of his?

Believe it or not, Genghis Khan is my ancestor. That what my father told me. And I believe that after I saw his photo. He really look like my uncles ( I have 6) and all look the same. And I like extrema sports, so must be he dose it too then. He has a biggest land in the world. In such a wide and all kind climate land, he can try anykind of sports activities. The extreme sports he would participate are probably combine together with animals; riding elephant back and cross the jungle, surfing dolphin's back, flying with hundreds hawks, sand slay pulled by camels, free climbing after let monkey tag the ropes, etc. And when he was too old to do the sports, he will let his solders/slaves to participate the races which combined above spots. He just watch and enjoy who get hurts. The winner can get a big green jade stone and fail-er will be the victim by hungry Tigers.

Fierce, robust and agile. Leathery skin and long beard. Loves using sharp metal objects in an outdoor setting. I think we have a world champion lumberjack on our hands here folks. Who could rival Genghis in the axe throwing competition? Who would dare to stand next to him with an axe in his hands to try? Are you going to beat a man who lived on raw horse meat as he conquered half of Asia in the underhand chop competition? Forget it, just give him the gold axe now. The only thing left to see is what kind of war cry he lets out as he jumps down at the end of the tree climb.
