Founded in Hong Kong, the Chi Heng Foundation provides education and support for AIDS orphans in Central China and promotes AIDS awareness across the country. The organization promotes awareness through regular community outreach and holds regular fundraising campaigns to fund scholarship programs.

The Grassroots I did a short internship with the Chi Heng Foundation one year ago and was incredibly impressed by their enthusiasm, hard-work, and dedication. Chi Heng is a grassroots organization run by a small number of courageous individuals who are tackling one of the most pressing, not to mention politically sensitive, health and development issues facing China today.
Their creativity, tact, and openess has allowed them to access the most at risk and afflicted communities and gain the trust of those they work with. They also seek to promote tolerance, acceptance, and awareness within the general population, both for the LGBT community and for those people who are at risk, living with, or affected by HIV/AIDS.
Chi Heng welcomes volunteers who are open-minded, accepting, and passionate about fighting HIV/AIDS and discrimination. Some chinese language ability would be extremely helpful as the majority of activities involve discussions and interactions at the local community level, all conducted in chinese. This is the sort of grassroots work upon which fundamental changes are built.
