This American diner serves hearty Western classics, from omelettes that evoke memories of homemade Sunday breakfasts to steaks that dominate the entire plate. If you’re hankering for apple pie or some good ol' huevos rancheros, head here. Calling cheesecake lovers; with just a hint of lemon, theirs is a must-try.

I am still an intractable devotee of Moon River Diner, but Steak&Eggs has earned a tentative spot in my breakfast rotation.
Promising new spot that will appeal to the "simple & affordable" crowd... and they serve grits!
The pecan waffle is really quite good, the coffee is average. I am confounded by the decor, which reminds me of grandma's living room circa 1978.
Best of luck to Paul with his expansion plans!

The omelets were just the way my dad always made them ... simple with the ingredients mixed right in with the egg ... no fancy folding and the subsequent (and unavoidable) messy eating afterwards. Paul's specialty lies in his baking though. His background in pastries has imbued him with a special talent for cakes, particularly the cheesecake. As an avid lover of cheesecake, I have to say this is one of the best ones I've been able to find in Shanghai. Just a hint of lemon, thick and creamy, not dry, crumbly graham crust ... delicious, in a word. If steak is not your thing, the cheesecake will be.

In need of some home-cooking, I stopped in Steak & Eggs the other day for lunch. The grilled cheese sandwich was just what I needed. Not too greasy, with some nice slices of tomato on top, it felt like I was back at home. While the salad was a little sparce, more tomato and cucumber than lettuce, I will definitely be going back for more...with breakfast next on my list.

Visit quite often and their milkshakes always hit the spot. Stick to the typical "diner" breakfast and lunch specials and you will not be disappointed. The staff is always friendly and quite attentive. If you are looking for decor don't make the visit, but if you are looking for a good cheap and wholesome home cooked meal to help you recover from the night before this is your spot.

This restaurant is simply TERRIBLE! Went there with 3 other friends (we're all Asian by the way), this white guy showed up later than us by himself & the server gave HIM the table for four first instead of us!!! Then comes the crappy service, rude attitude, slow serving speed & worst of all, the food wasn't good at all & it's not cheap. I would never go back to this restaurant ever again, nor would my friends.

heard good reviews, walked in with a friend one saturday morning, sat down, looked around at the decor that screams poverty and drab and walked round the corner to element fresh..on a saturday morning you want upbeat and sparkly not a place where you have your last drink before topping yourself in your lonely bedsit.

Food is uneven and the cafe is still going through teething issues. We went and none of what we ordered were seasoned. We asked the cafe manager why it is. He said this is standard policy at American Steak & Eggs, that they don't season their food as customers do not like it. It is the customers responsibility to season the food themselves. How silly of a response is that? The food simply underperformed and our bill was 170RMB, so it was not cheap for a mediocre lunch.
