A veritable institution in Shanghai, the hip Blue Frog caters to all crowds. Young professionals grab after-work drinks and killer burgers at the Maoming and Tongren branches, families lounge about the community-inspired Jinqiao and Hongmei outlets, and Daning provides a welcome escape for Zhabei expats.

Blue Frog price: I like the higher prices as it keeps the riff raff out of the place so I can get a table whenever I want...I wish Malone's would triple their lunch prices.
Re Blue Frog Food:
I really like the burger. The fries are great. Douse liberally with Tabasco.
The Shanghai fried noodles are also really good. Order it with chicken instead of stinky pig meat.
Various sandwiches are good too, but always order them with no mayo.
The breakfast burrito is pretty good if you order it with rice instead of scrambled eggs inside. Sort of a sneaky way of getting Mexican food in the Mexican-no-mans-land of Shanghai. I think they may only serve it on weekends. Normally it had scrambled eggs inside, but I tell the waitress to switch the eggs to cooked rice instead. So it then contains rice, chili, cheese, maybe some beans,...anyways, it tastes pretty good RELATIVELY speaking.
Naturally, when you ask the waitress to switch to rice, she will, in her infinite 5000 year old wisdom, say "sorry, sorry, no, we can not do that." Doesn't matter if she has worked there for 5 minutes or 5 years, she will always say no first. Just insist and tell her you have ordered it this way before and she should go check with the kitchen staff and they will confirm. She will walk away and come back 5 minutes later and tell you no again, and then you tell her she should really check with the kitchen this time, and finally you will get it just like you want it.
Ceasar salad is best ordered with dressing on the side so you can control the Belgianism of it all.
Firecracker pasta is pretty reliable.
Soups are crap, I'll give you that.
Refillable ice tea and soft drinks are awesome (goddamnit, cartmann, why won't they refill diet cokes?!)
2 for 1 happy hour is good too. Much better than a half price special as it makes everyone drink even numbers of drinks. An even better idea would be 4 drinks for the price of 2.
Chips and salsa are ok, but nachos only so so due to the horrendously wrong raw red peppers on top.
Salmon steak is nice for special occasions.
Sam Adams beer washes down the rest of the menu items with ease.

one of the very few places in shanghai that does burgers right, and consistent over a longer period of time.

located at what used to be Shanghai's street of choice for bar hopping - Tongren road. It is more tone down now due to heavy complaints from their neighbors. But BF has been there since the begining, and still is a reliable place for an after hour drink.

Don't order the chocolate milk: it was warm and slightly powdery.
Otherwise, the food here is good, the staff courteous, and it's a convenient place if you're in the Nanjing Xi Lu neighborhood. Prices are moderate for American food.
