Excellent Shanghai-brewed beer, pale ale on tap, and delicious honey brown are the real deal on the Bund at Henry's. Combined with cheap eats, classic rock and good conversation, Henry's Bar and Grill has all the fixings for a great place to relax after a long workday.

Good beer, that's not expensive and made fresh for Shanghai, it's a god send.

A Beer Lover Seriously Disappointed We have been in the city for a while now and when my husband and I heard about Henry's we were so excited to think we could get good brewed beer here in Shanghai. Not to be harsh, but I wouldn't give this beer to my dog. We love beer and aren't too picky- I mean I will drink a Tsing Tao or Carlsberg- though I prefer a good ale, stout, or porter- but wow, this stuff was bad. We went for dinner on a Friday night, got 2 samplers and after some awful service and bad food, we dug into the beer. It was all very harsh- having a rubbing alcohol after taste. The raspberry beer tasted like hairspray. It was just gross. We left very disappointed once again in the beer situation in this city. But last weekend we went to Paulaner and had some awesome beer. Definately pricey, but cheapest if you get a pint the size of a head. Go there instead!!!!!!

where's the perfect pint? Shame. A micro brewery seems like it would be successful in the city. Henry's hasn't been able to win the taste, or the hearts and minds of the Shanghai yet. Paulaner is great, but yeah, pricey. Where else has good fresh beer?

That's a good question. At this point I do know it is not impossible to find good beer in the city. Fresh and good maybe. But, you may, like everything else, have to shell out some cash for it. As I said, Paulaner was great. But if you are into microbrews- Moon River Diner has been expanding their beer list. We were there this past weekend and they had some microbrews from Seatlle as well as some others that escape me right now. My personal favorite was the Dead Guy Ale out of Seattle. It seems like many of the expat frequented bars also have a decent array of good beer that grows by the month. Moon River may be a nice alternative however, to the bar scene and the mobs of women and children begging for money if you're just not up for that.

my sentiments exactly. i even gave this place a second chance. this beer doesn't even come close to resembling a craft beer or microbrew. watery and fizzy. and gross. it has the ambiance of a shoebox and the wait staff are equally unprepared. the first time i went i said, "eh, watery pale ale might be better than no pale ale at all." the second time i went i called in advance to ask if they had a happy hour. they said "yes" on the phone, and then after cabbing over there, they said "no," only if i have a special henry's card. i sincerely want to support anything "microbrew" related here. this just isn't it.
