This retro-style American diner serves classic diner food in a family-friendly environment. Situated near to some of the city's international schools, it's a favorite with teens who want to grab a milkshake and fries and hang with friends after school.

Went there with my girlfriend (yes we're Asian) and the server told us we have to give up our table to a family of four (yes WHITE people), already being disgusted by the attitude the manager said he would give us DISCOUNT later, when we're almost done eating, the manager came and gave us an ice cream and apologized for the server's terrible service. When I asked for bill there wasn't any discount on it, the server said "You ate the ice-cream that was your discount". TERRIBLE SERVICE! SIMPLY CRAP!

Johnny Moo's should be sued for false advertising. First you have the great 50ish name, Johnny Moo's. Then you have a great store design located in a good location. You even have a very cool cow-theme door handle. Inside, the place is nothing fancy, but the design fits the overall strategy to a T.....AND THEN THE FOOD ARRIVES AT YOUR TABLE.

If you've ever seen the Southpark episode called More Cr*p, then you will know that the food from this place was created by that guy in South Park who did a slow spiral at the end of the show.

Truly some of the worst "western" food I have ever eaten. I can not figure out for the life of me, how they could have screwed it up so badly. Are the owners Singaporeans from outer space or what?! I expected a lot from them based on their awesome marketing skills, and instead got brown swirl.

I know it is frustrating working in Shanghai, and sometimes even little things are impossible to get right, but this is just too far off the mark!

Maybe my hopes were too high. I first walked into the place before it was officially open, and the pony-tailed Singapore dude sitting at the counter said...well, I am not sure what he said in Singlish, but it ended in "lah". I interpreted it to mean that they were not open yet but would be in a few days.

Wile E. Coyote that I am, I then waited one full month before going back, thereby allowing them time to get the kinks out of the system. Of course, this only built my excitement about finally having a nice "burger joint" near my house.

Finally the day arrived to give it a shot: I ordered the burger, some onion rings, and a hot dog. Burger was greasy and not substantial in terms of meatage. The fries that came with it were thin, yellowish, limp...did I mention cold? The onion rings appeared to have been fried without any onion inside. Not sure how they did that, but it could be a good magic trick at parties. Worst of all was the hot dog which was made from the most mysterious concoction of mystery meat that I have ever laid teeth on (no jokes please). It was sorta mushy like wet toufu, and had an orange color tint resembling vomit after an Element Fresh carrot smoothie. (You party animals know exactly what I mean, don't you?).

Question: Is it still open?

Next time I am in that area, I would either go to Bukharas (Indian food) or the nearby Hayas Meditteranean place again. Both are much better bets.

Walked by there this morning and caught a glimpse of the fries on the plates of the people eating at the front window seats. It seem the fries have been put on a steroid diet and thusly bulked up substantially since I was there last. A nice step forward. It seems the pony-tailed one (term formerly used to refer exclusively to akido guy Steven Segal but now referring also to the Singaporean guy I met running the place once, lah) is not from Mars after all. Do I dare to give them another chance?

Went in with my daughter at Johnny Moo. Seems that the previous reviews are not very kind.

We order a Moo Burger, Cookies n Cream mlk shakes, a chilli pasta and a cup of coffee.

My daughter told me that she had the "Best" cookies and cream Shakes and the burgers was good.

My pasta was very delicious. Theres sumptous chilli meat n my pasta and it taste great! My coffee at 15 yuan also entitled to free refills.

Robin, the manager told me that soft drinks, coffee and tea are entitled to free refills.

Service was average. The place is cute and very suitable for families. Prices are so much cheaper than other American restaurants like Blue Frog, Malones and the Diner at Pedestrian Street.

It is a non-smoking Diner with free internet access. Will definitely bring my wife to Johnny Moo. Hopefully they are consistent in their food.
