This classic pub offers predominantly Western patrons three floors of Americana, affordable draft Tiger and a long-running happy hour. The variety of burgers has been praised as some of the city's finest. Their Mardi Gras étouffée and jambalaya are two southern dishes that are hard to find elsewhere.

It's a good burger but a touch pricey at 80rmb. Fries were a disappointment as they were re-fried and the service was borderline rude and very inattentive.
The live music is great in the evening ....but it's a shame that so many hookers hang out here.

Burgers are good (for Shanghai) and relatively consistent (for Shanghai). Any of the other dishes I tried were disappointing. Service is not rude, but certainly not friendly either. Waitresses appear bored and uninterested. Don't like the place much for drinks. Prefer BB or BF for that. But for the burgers I'd say Malone's is the best of the 3.

I was so spoilt for choice at Malone's. It's menu packs an extensive list of burgers to choose from.
The staff are very attentive while the live band plays fabulous music that gets you in a good dining mood.If you're looking for a western dining place, Malone's is definitely the place to go.

This was the only place to get a burger back in the mid 1990's.
Today, it's still kicking, and the burgers are amongst the best in Shanghai (way better than overrated Blue Frog, but I like the Hooters burgers best).
If you are Jonesing for a Burger, these guys deliver through Sherpa's I think.

2nd best burget in Shanghai (after Hooter's)

Come and try our NEW Gourmet Burgers that start in 2 weeks, Will put up the menu for you guys to look at. 8 Incredible new burgers for you to try
-
-
they have had the best burgers consistently for nearly 14 years now and even though we only go there every 3 or 4weeks they are still a damn site better than frog bamboo and the diner, the asian dishes are sometimes a bit hit and miss according to the better half but all in all a good place for some home cooking from home

-
Wide selection on lunch sets, but not too many vegetarian options.

It's a very good burger (for Shanghai). Better than Arch. Better than Big Bamboo. Better than Blue Frog.
Good choice of toppings which make for some interesting combos.
Breakfast offers a wide variety of tradtitional American choices. The pancakes are better than the egg dishes. But it's a solid selection all around for a big weekend breakfast.

Good brunch menu, all american standard offerings. HUGE portions so go hungry. The bloody mary is good, extra spicy just the way I like it!

It's nice to escape China once in awhile, and you'll find that in Malone's American Cafe. It's basically a big building housing a pub, but they serve up great food as well. It's a fab place to chill out after work and grab a dinner and beer. The atmosphere also reminds me very much of the pubs in Australia, which is why I really like Malones.
The Malones burgers are normally priced at 80元 which are really pricey to me, but now they have a "Any burger & a pint of Tiger beer for 50元" Monday promotion that is just flat out AWESOME. One impressive thing is that they do NOT compromise on the size or quality of the burger during this promotion - we thoroughly enjoyed ours. If anything, I find them a bit TOO more-ish! The burger patties are so thick that you're left with a nicely-filled belly at the end of the meal.
My Mushroom Swiss burger is my absolute favourite burger at Malones. The soft bun encasing a luscious THICK beef patty that is juicy, full of flavour, and cooked to perfection. The Swiss cheese is pretty generously heaped on top of the patty and there is also a very decent serving of sliced mushrooms on top. The combination makes the burger ultra juicy, meaty, and delicious. I LOVE it.
The Super Supreme burger is a fantastic deal because the regular price is even more expensive, but it's still part of the promotion. It comes out piled high with... just about everything, it seems ;) A thick patty, with bacon, onions, jalapenos, egg, mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, cheese. WHEW!! It's tough to get it into your mouth, but Chris manages and declares it "awesome".
Their coleslaw is a small portion in a little glass bowl and is fine, but could have been served with a little less sauce. I was initially disappointed that their fries consisted of only a small handful (I need a big bowl to satisfy my belly) but it turned out it was sufficient as the burger was so filling. The fries were a little overcooked as I prefer my fries softer, so next time I'll go for the wedges. Options for baked potato or corn-on-the-cob instead would be excellent though.
Their portions are perfect for medium-to-big eaters, since the pint of beer also helps wash everything down. There's a lot of staff there, so we were well attended to and they were friendly and prompt with our food.
Thumbs up - we'll be back!
