This café's style lies in its simple modern décor, straight lines and solid colors accentuated by ornamental brick fireplaces and high-beam rafters. A smattering of average Western foods, standard café drinks and a minimal choice of cocktails greet customers. Go for the Wi-Fi and A+ ambiance.
Cafe Buzzing
They must be doing something right at Amokka Café these days because the place is buzzing with people. We recently paid this café a re-visit around lunch time for a quick bowl of their delicious creamy, pungent mushroom soup (YY32) which came highly recommended. In the high-beamed sunny upper level we were surrounded by friends having coffee, office mates lunching, solos on computers, and nary an empty table. Menu choices are simple salads, sandwiches, burgers, pastas, some Asian fare and grilled items for dinner. We also sampled a satisfying Caesar salad (YY42) with fresh leafy greens, a creamy Caesar dressing, croutons, and real bacon bits along with a complimentary glass of refreshing iced tea. Service is much improved as Amokka's friendly staff aims to please, whether you're dropping in for coffee, lunch, Sunday brunch, cocktails or dinner. Portions are ample with reasonable prices to match. Now that they've settled in, we'd say Amokka is worth a visit--you may just become one of the regulars. --Peggy Rosen
