This cafe doubles as a showroom for tasteful antique-style objects and ceramics from around Asia. Try the grilled chicken crepe with gruyere and accents of basil.

Blue Chair's large central room and open kitchen doubles as a showroom for tasteful antique-style objects and ceramics from around Asia. An extensive selection of crepes, sweet and savory, Western or Asian fusion, range from around RMB30 to upwards of RMB80. We chose a delicious #76 (RMB88) with nice chunks of grilled chicken in a mushroom sauce, gruyere cheese and accents of fresh basil. A #59 (RMB62) was also a winner with a good portion of mixed mushrooms in cream sauce atop ham, cheese and a fried egg. Side salads are included with all the savory crepes and a limited set menu is available for lunch. After finishing it all off with a deliciously sinful crepe of butter, caramel and whipped cream (RMB38) we felt a little let down by a disappointing afogatto (espresso and ice cream, RMB38) and so-so Vietnamese coffee (RMB25). Still, this is a delicious way to get into the crepe craze that's sweeping Shanghai, if a little pricey. -Michael Elliott
