A hub for the artsy crowd on Taikang Lu, the smell of bacon and coffee draws painters, potters and designers out of their creative hubs into this sunny courtyard. Enjoy the garden setting as a chef barbecues up a colorful mix of eggs, bacon, tomato, toast and hash browns.

Description -
Tucked away in the heart of Taikang Lu's art's district, Kommune Courtyard Bar & Café offers quality coffee, casual, honest dining and friendly service. Surrounded by boutiques and artists' studios, Kommune is the perfect place to enjoy a sunny afternoon or to start a big night out.
The kitchen prepares home-style daily specials and a selection of favourite dishes, as well as Italian focaccia, ciabatta and salads. Our Great Ozzie Barbecues from 6 to 10 every Wednesday night regularly have celebrity chefs, and theme nights on Fridays and Sundays offer wholesome food at great prices. All-day breakfast barbecues on Sundays make the perfect way to start the day no matter what time you got in the night before.
We are open from 8:00am to midnight, Sunday to Thursday, and 8:00am to 1am Friday and Saturday. Our barbecue is available for private functions and we offer a range of packages for groups.

We launched a new menu on Friday, 9 May featuring potato wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce, a couple of new mains, more sandwiches, snacks (think mixed platers of spring rolls) along with all of the old favourites, like our lasagne and daily specials.

woo-hoo! i'll be there soon then

This has long been one of the best places to sit outside in Shanghai and, although Taikang Lu is getting busier and busier these days, Kommune is still one of the places to head to on a summer's afternoon. A lovely setting and a relaxed atmosphere make it a great place for a few drinks and bite to eat in the sunshine.
The Great Ozzie Barbecue on a Wednesday night is obscenely good too, with all you could hope for from that name - those Australians really know what they're doing when it comes to barbecues. Now, if only they could get some chips on the menu...
