City Weekend Says

This cafe in the People's Square area boasts free wifi and a rooftop view onto Yunnan Lu in addition to Naxi-style snacks from a restaurant on the first floor. Reasonably priced drinks, southern Chinese snacks and (we hear) a suave guitarist are the draws.

Contributor Description

Well-priced cafe and bar in a great location - a Yunnan Food Street rooftop just a few minutes' walk from People's Square. Relax in the tiny tea house with free wifi access or sit out on the roof and watch the bustle of Yunnan road from this peaceful spot.

Coffee from 15RMB, beer from 20RMB, the bar has a small selection of drinks at very reasonable prices. The house special "Chongqing Island Iced Tea" is worth seeking out.

The Phoenix also serves a selection of Shanxi snacks (from the popular Lao Shan restaurant on the 1st floor). Try lamb, beef or pork in a flatbread - a Chinese sloppy Joe – a sloppy Zhou! The hot and sour potato pancakes also taste great with a beer. Phoenix snacks are all between 6-15RMB.

The Phoenix is new so the service still being refined, check the place out and let the staff know how they are doing!
