This dim sum palace serves up miniature Cantonese and Shanghainese delights to an ever-growing crowd of young professionals and families out for a special occasion. Classic dishes including double-boiled chicken soup and xiaolongbao are must-haves; bring a big group and an appetite to match.

This is the benchmark place to go for dim sum and hong kong-styled cantonese food. The la-mian isn't as good as their stores in Singapore. For lunch, the prawn rice soup is excellent though it looks like a lobster in the picture... Dinner is also excellent and the service is always attentive. The problem is the popularity of the place and getting a table isn't easy. The price is reasonable.

You'll be hard pressed to find better dim sum in Shanghai. I always head to the one in the basement of HK New World Plaza on Huaihai lu, never crowded there (ever). I agree that the la-mian could be better (too soft, might contain egg as it's a little rich) but havn't tried the S'pore version. The one with red wine braised oxtail is tasty.
Overall quite good Canto dim sum; cheung fan, har gow, wu gok, all the standards you love, and the congee is very good, with quite a few choices. Also a page of Shanghai-style dim sum; xiao long bao, sheng jian man tou, and those flaky radish pastries that always scald my mouth.
The one thing I find inexcusable is the use of boiled Shanghai tapwater for the tea; if I want to suck on mud I'll do so on my own time and at my own expense, and for the prices they're charging come on. An egregious oversight on the managements part, don't know if the water is the same in the other CJs in Shanghai.

the best dim sum you can get in Shanghai
