Judging by the bright light and rows of tiny tables for singles and couples, Shi Wei Guan feels like a budget lunch joint, up until you look at the menu. Here they take pride in their dim-sums of different flavors and size, the largest being a giant single "tangbao" with crab stuffing. To try most flavors we ordered a sampler of five dim-sum (Y24), each with different stuffing of crab, pork, liver and two vegetable variations. I'm not a fan of mild cuisines, but these dim-sum were exceptional: juicy and shapely, perfectly wrapped in tender steamed dough. Stir-fried rice with miniature unshelled shrimp (Y38) tasted fine, and beef soup (Y42) with hand-made noodle (extra Y5) was concentrated and wholesome. Almost overbearing servers never forgot to refill the free tea. Looking around, we realized that we missed out on the popular dish, deep-fried shrimp with pineapple (Y75), but it's a good reason to come again.
