    City Weekend Says

This restaurant offers very affordable Cantonese, Fusion and Sichuan food in a contemporary setting-think 1221 or bellagio. We recommend the daily Cantonese soup or the New Zealand Beef Gravy.

    City Weekend Review

    Chinese Bite | Upscale Spice

When it comes to Sichuan food, the first thing that springs to mind isa bubbling cauldron of red oil. But at Yi Ding, you’ll find all that good spice, a Bellagio-like interior and a bevy of Western and Cantonese dishes at very affordable prices. The specialty is Four Seasons Chicken (¥48). Tender, cold chicken is served in four mildly spicy sauces in a four-petal ceramic flower dish.

The deep-fried oysters (¥8 each) are another highlight, served crispy and juicy with a fiery chili sauce. Cut through the richness with sour-salty Chongqing-style pickled celery, carrot and radish (¥5). They keep the spice level rather manageable (perfect for Sichuan newbies), but if you need respite, try one of their four Cantonese-style daily soups (¥10 per person). Our pork soup with pear and fig provided a delicious, light accompaniment to a generous mound of tender, stir-fried beef in the steakhouse-inspired New Zealand Beef Gravy (¥58).

    Liao Jiachang.
