City Weekend Review

It's All in the Yogurt

In a city that heats up faster than a streetside lovers' quarrel, there simply aren't enough ice cream and frozen yogurt parlors around. Imported from the West Coast of the U.S.A., Berryfresh is getting ready to do battle with the mean heat on the streets of Shanghai (Hongqiao, to be exact). Following the principle of using fresh, healthy products, their delicious low-fat frozen yogurt, poured in a long twisting spiral, is topped with one (YY19) or three (YY29) toppings which include freshly chopped strawberry, kiwi, watermelon and other fruity options. Our favorite topping options are definitely less healthy that the rest but we just can't resist throwing on a few scoops of Cap'n Crunch, Trix, or Cocoa Puffs to add a delectably juvenile sugary crunch. "The Cap'n Crunch is awesome, but it's the hardest to get," says owner Michael Yang. We're definitely grateful for the effort. They also provide shaved ice, smoothies, waffles and fruit juice for those less yogurt inclined.
