This Hong Kong import serves up a delicious variety of cute drinks and boutique espresso beverages. The signature "happy lemon" is a tang-filled frozen delight, and the fruit flavored yakult jelly drinks are superb. Super popular among teenagers and young adults, their drinks are never more than RMB13.

I tried my first Happy Lemon today ... the lemon mint ice. The color is a bit scary at first--a bright green concoction that vaguely reminds you of the mint-flavored fluoride you used to dread at the dentist's--but after the first sip you just keep on going. I'm not usually a huge fan of jelly but the amount in this one wasn't overpowering, nor was the mint flavor which was surprisingly subtle (again, given the color) and provided a nice complement to the lemon tang. Looking forward to trying a few other items on the menu, especially as we've just discovered that they deliver.

aren't there like two other Happy Lemons in Shanghai? Zhongshan Park and Jingan Temple? Where are the listings for them?

The menu offers hot/cold/iced/brewed/whirled/shaken drinks and a large, classic "zhenzhu nai cha" (bubble tea) goes for a whopping...6 kuai. Might I add that the "pearls" use in this milk tea are tiny versions of the usual tapioca, which means that you'll be handed a normal-sized straw and can sip happily without being in fear of choking.
