This styling gentlemen-style lounge welcomes both sexes with a beautiful interior done in soft tan and black leathers and tinted glass with a backdrop of Dunhill-suited mannequins. The 46 varieties of whiskey and a selection of simple but high-quality European fare make this an indulgent spot to relax and replenish. We recommend the ramati tomato pasta and, of course, the cocktails.
New Eats | A Little Too Simple
This 1970s style “gentleman’s lounge” is all copper-tinted glass and soft black and tan leather against a backdrop of tailored Dunhill suits. Aquarium by KEE, so named after Dunhill’s iconic Aquarium lighter, is a seriously stunning bachelor pad with expertly mixed drinks and gourmet fare. Since the drink list is dominated by whiskey (there are 46 selections), we cooled down with a delicious “Old Fashioned” aperitif (¥70)–a drink of shaken bourbon whiskey, aromatic orange peel, angostura bitters and soda. Next up was thinly sliced parma ham wrapped around sweet, crisp chunks of melon (¥65). Simple but seductive.
A foie gras appetizer (¥110) looked so tempting with its generous slab of liver, buttery croutons and cubes of sweet-sour apricot jam, but although the ingredients were well-paired, our foie gras was a tad overcooked with a greasy sear. Similarly, the entrée of veal tenderloin (¥135) featured high quality meat, but tasted bland, especially with the plain potato purée. Our penne pasta with ramati tomato (¥65) was another story. An extremely flavorful sauce of cherry tomato and chives arranged with spicy arugula leaves topped perfectly cooked pasta. We’d come back just for this and the well prepared drinks. We enjoyed our meal, but didn’t think the preparation of the dishes justified the prices.
