Very pretentious and very approximate.
We had dinner with friends: the Maitre d'hotel was checking his SMS every 10 mn, the Chef spent half his time talking to friends, our food was "good looking" rather than tasty: it was missing the litlle something to make it interessing: no spice, no originality. We oder from "al Carte " menu and all had different dishes that were not exciting.

I've been to the ground floor of Le Platane called Brasserie. Don't get a wrong impression of it, it is "the" restaurant to eat for now in this city!! I've been told by few friends that this place worth a shot as they were now all addicted to this traditionnal, pure french cooking. Even if i knew it was a brasserie, I came in with very high expectations. And i have to say that i've been blown away!! Superb food (probably the best in Shanghai), impeccable service (perfect explanation of daily specials, focus on details without interupting conversation, a training as we don't see often in Shanghai!!!). The atmosphere is really warm, the buzz of service could be felt but at all time extra attentions were here. The only caucasian working here, Rene, French, Manager of the restaurant was checking all tables satisfactory, even local ones (as there were few of them). The kind of attitude which makes the customer feel taken care of and comfortable. I definitely recommend Le Platane, difficult to find but once you reach it, you're one step closer from heaven!! One of the top address in town!!

Very poor service!
We have been sadly put off by the poor receptionist while trying to make a reservation before we could even be there!

The platane is culinary experience. The best food I had in Shanghai.... Nice service, great food and a good wine list. A must. C est vraiment fabuleux.
