Should you be in the Changning District, excellently priced lunch sets and ample servings of dishes drawing on a range of Asian inspirations provide those weary of eating in shopping malls a nice reprieve. The décor of this restaurant is simple and clean, the service friendly. Try the red curry duck and treat yourself to a creamy peanut smoothie afterwards.

Fusion's Fuse Almost Lit
This may not be a "destination," but should you live in Changning District and need a break from street side malatang and frigid Singaporean mall restaurants, it can provide many welcome dishes rare to these parts. With excellently priced lunch sets (YY20-28) with ample servings, white collars can mix up the work week with a little spice. And it is spicy. The Green Papaya and Fresh Prawn Salad (YY28) possessed an intense zing only squelched by a milky Thai iced coffee (YY12). We shared an Assorted Starter Plate featuring fried prawn, banana leaf chicken, spring rolls, fish cakes and satay (YY55) which wasn't too off course, but the texture on some items was too chewy or too crunchy. A stir-fried seasonal vegetable in egg soup (YY20) was a savory option, especially for the carbo-phobic, but the stir-fried sliced pork with chashugu called for better meat though the mushrooms were excellent (YY32). Tom Yum soup (YY48) satisfied our desire for sour-spice, but our favorite dish was a red curry duck, served in an iron pot (YY32). We each polished off the meal with sinfully creamy peanut smoothies (YY22). The décor is simple and quiet with clean booths and sparse, tasteful ornamentation and the service is friendly and prompt. We have a feeling the dishes will get better with time--the owner was bustling about and asking everyone for true opinions on their food and seemed genuinely interested in real feedback. -Megan Shank
