Embre is not cheap by Shanghai standards (nor among the most expensive), but a very nice place for brunch/lunch/dinner or just a drink (free wifi too i think). After having visited for the second time yesterday, I have to recommend Embre for their very friendly and attentive staff, the beautiful setting/decor, the creative and well assorted menu and - most importantly - the quality food. We had some bread with dips to start and a thai tenderloin beef salad. The assorted breadrolls, all warm and fresh, are presented in a cloth bag. Never seen this before but it's kind of a cool touch. The dips were all homemade, fresh and very tasty. The salad was great too, with tender meat and lots of fresh coriander. The main courses tasted and looked very good too. And apparently they have a Tuesday special because after having ordered a bottle of Australian Shiraz (a really nice one, btw), the waiter came back to explain we would receive another bottle of the wine list for free, as a gift.. Now who wouldn't like that? The only negative point was they served a glass of Jameson which had the smallest amount of whiskey in it that i have seen in Shanghai. After asking about this, the waitress got the barman to pour me some extra.
Bottomline: quality food with eye for detail, great setting, very friendly staff.

Way overpriced. Desserts are straight out of the supermarket.
