Go to New Heights for its great patio & excellent outdoor view, but not for the food. If you're expecting great food, New Heights is not for you.

I dare you to not fall in love with our city (if you aren't already) while perched out on the patio with a glass of wine, looking over at the beautiful Shanghai skyline on a perfect, crisp fall evening. But if daytime viewing is more your thing, while you're at it, don't miss the lunchtime antipasti buffet.

avoid the hamburger at any cost, even if it is the cheapest main course ! awfully expensive for a dinner. Go there only for the view on the terrace.

The meat there sucks. They have to use Chinese meats. The steaks are a laugh and the burger is gross. Their seafood is pretty lame too. Don't be sucked in by the "affordable" prices---they are affordable compared to Laris (great meat!) and Jean Georges (which also has lame meat dishes) on the Bund. It does have a great view though! If it didn't, it wouldn't still be there.

been a few times, nothing special drinks, the place looks worn and dirty..pricy menu...'hip and sexy?' dont get it. id rather pay the same and go to the hyatt on the bund or jade bar for a well mixed drink with better view

Can’t recall how many times that I’ve been to New Heights now, keep on taking clients there for dinner.

They done a bit of renovation a while ago, and opened a new lounge section facing the Bund. Menuwise, nothing has changed though, so we’ve eaten pretty much on the “Things” they have on there. Food in general is okay, probably the focus is more on the location and the view rather. Definitely worth visiting if you’re a first timer at Shanghai to enjoy the Pudong/Bund nightscape whilst having dinner. But for this time of the year, take a warm jacket with you!

I've read comments about the place that are quite unfair. The food is definitely good. It is not the best quality price in Shanghai but you pay for the view. It is much nicer in spring or autumn while you can enjoy the terrace because the inside decoration is far from being perfect. Service is good.

After the redecoration the place has changed in a complete bistro style restaurant. Tables and chairs have been cramped in to fot as many customers as possible. That is as well the service impression you get, after ordering our food arrived within 4 minutes, drinks were actually served later than the food.Eat fast, pay the bill and please make space for the next customer. If you still know the place from old times it used to be a relaxed restaurant with atmosphere and flair. The terrace is still nice these days, but the whole new concept is not for me. Used to like the place, but with all the character gone, no need to come back.

Food is very low quality and STILL not worth their "cheap prices". Kobe sirloin? They couldn't afford the toe of a real Kobe raised cow...let alone a sirloin--must be the Mongolian Kobe strain...

Nice view for chewing your leather and drinking your over priced-under poured drinks with though...

We went there 2 weekends ago. I had heard so much about New Heights and Cupuola but given the shrinking size of my bank account, we thought, "Let's sniff NH out for now". So we did.

This visitation set a new record for my dining experience - I asked 4 different "fu wu yuan" for the menu (yeap) 4 times! Mental. And it wasn't as if it was crowded that Saturday night either. Bu hao.

After waiting more than 15 minutes (patience is something I'm cultivating in China, as you can tell), the menu finally arrived and a smile was finally planted on my grumpy face as the selection was really good. The food arrived and very quickly melted away the earlier irritation.

All in all, I'd recommend this place for the food, ambience and spectacular view of the Pudong skyline. The service left very little to be desired and I suppose some form of staff training is in order to rectify it.

Went there twice now in less than a week...first for drinks only and then for dinner only. The view let's face it is amazing....nothing to say about this, it's stunning. Mixed drinks are poor and weak, do not get cocktails, stick with beer or wine it's safer. Food was ok...nothing great but not bad...the oysters were fresh (well I'm not sick yet...). The mini dessert is a good idea but the one i chose (something with nuts and chocolate...normally you can't go wrong with that combination but apparently you can) was not really good....the food is expensive. Next time I will go there for a glass of wine on the terrace but eat at Laris...at least I feel I get my money's worth in good food.

Unique environment with cozy feeling. Mixed drink at bar are amazing. Food is in good price range and quality (would recommend mix platter and Italian specials). In relations to size, prices, location and offer it’s going for 5 stars rating.
