    City Weekend Says

Good Times specializes in South Indian and Anglo-Indian cuisine with a flair for authenticity. A wacky décor and a menu in the guise of a newspaper work to create an ambiance that is festive, bordering on hokey, but thankfully it doesn't detract from the delicious curries and chutnies that lie in store.

    Good Times, Better Food

Good Times is the third and latest installment from the folks behind Masala Art. Unlike Masala, which offers Northern Indian fare, Good Times focuses almost exclusively on Southern cuisine, with results nothing short of exceptional for an unbeatable value. For those well-acquainted with Indian cooking, you'll find all the standards on the menu, but what sets the place apart is its uncommon selection of fast-food style, individually portioned dishes. The Dosa (YY38 or YY48), flakey crepes stuffed with your choice of meat or vegetable combinations, and the Murg Kathi Roll (YY48), chopped chicken and vegetables in an egg-y paratha husk, are can't miss selections. The menu also contains a number of Anglo-Indian dishes, but with a wealth of solid chutnies and curries, we can't see why you would bother ordering a Curry Burger (YY38). The only real knock on the place is the ambiance. The faux-café décor might work if not for an outrageously loud color scheme and the bad music, made even worse by the thumping bass from a neighboring disco. The menu, designed to look like a newspaper, is unnecessarily confusing but saved by a friendly wait staff, more than happy to assist you in your selection. It may not be the next great date restaurant, but when it comes to expanding your culinary horizons without shrinking your wallet, few places in town can compare. --Derek Sandhaus
