Inexpensive, yet delectable Indian food abounds at this quaint restaurant. In its chill, elaborately decorated dining hall, patrons sit on sofas while hailing servants (waiters) with the chime of a bell. You can’t go wrong picking something from the tandoori, some naan, the curry that suits your fancy and a cold drink.
Spiced Up and Chilled Out
A laid back, smartly decorated dining room in where you can eat delicious and affordable Indian food while kicking back on a cushy sofa ... what's not to like about this? As mellow music drifts into the dining room, the serene wait staff quietly stare off into space, but just one firm ring from a bell (provided at each table) and they're instantly at your beck and call. Quirky, yes, but somehow it all works. It also doesn't hurt that the chef, allegedly a Bombay native, knows what he's doing in the kitchen. The food is delicately prepared, magnificently spiced and, unlike many an Indian restaurant, the portions are adequately sized. The vegetable samosas (YY20) went down well with the house chutneys and was immediately followed by tender, peppery cubes of chicken tikka-kallimirch (YY38), fresh out of the tandoor. The lamb korma (YY48) with whole cashews was also excellent, but you'll want to save as much rice (YY18) and garlic naan (YY14) as possible to soak up every last morsel of delightfully spicy sauce from the paneer tikka masala (YY34). So relax, unwind, bring a friend or cuddle up next to a date couch-side for a curry to remember. -Derek Sandhaus
